Surfing with Joel Faraon

It is my first-time step on the surfing board over the waves at Sabang, Baler, Quezon province.  I don’t want to put much time swimming because I use to live near the beach in Batangas. Surfing changes my mind when I try this for the first time. I like to learn more and more but we only had a limited time since were going back to Manila after lunch.

We are lucky to have a coach with championship experience.

I need to try surfing to say and proved that it is easy or hard for me.  My first attempt was a failure and it becomes my learning point to adjust what to do next. I did not know that our coach Mr. Joel Faraon is the champion of the 8th Aurora Surfing Challenge 2014  for Men's Open Division. We are all first-timer and we learn so fast with his coaching. Many thanks brother for coaching me and the rest of my colleague.

The basic things I did when I start learning how to surf.

  • Safety first – at least you know how to swim.
  • Wait for the waves and get to the flows – patiently wait for the good wave that can push you to surf towards the shore.
  • Get your feet on the board and keep your balance – it’s easy to balance when you are in motion or the board starts moving with you.
  • Enjoy surfing and ride in the waves – once you get your balance steady, focus and feel how awesome it is.
  • Don’t forget to say thank you – If you cannot afford to pay at least you can give thanks. What I really wanted to say when saying thanks is giving recognition to what you accomplished and appreciation for the blessing you’ve received.

How much is the budget for learning how to surf in Sabang, Baler?

The instructor talent fee would range from PHP350-500 per hour plus surfing board. Our instructor is trying to waive his talent free for free. Thank you for the generosity but keep this for our token of appreciation.

Thank you Marie Dizon for taking photos of us while we are busy learning how to surf.

dlysen: I have a dream too! It’s about making a difference within me and to help others to do the same. That’s the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share with it. And I found a whole bunch of people who share the same dream, and that kind of makes us like a family. Follow me on Google+
